CARNE & OSSO / CHORD MACHINE

PRIVACY.

Your recordings and performances are yours. Chord Machine works on your device, without an account.

What the app keeps

Voice recordings, imported audio and saved performances are kept in the app’s storage on your device. The microphone is used only when you choose to record. The app does not send these files to Carne & Osso.

Feature settings

Versions 1.0.1 and later contact PostHog’s European service over HTTPS to check which features are available. The request contains a randomly generated installation identifier, the app version and whether you use iOS or Android. The service also receives normal connection information, including your IP address. These technical data are used to deliver feature settings, not for advertising or tracking you across other apps or websites. We disclose them conservatively because service operation may involve retaining request metadata; we do not promise that requests leave no server logs.

The app does not send analytics events or session recordings. It does not upload your microphone recordings, imported audio, performances, MIDI notes or file names to PostHog or Carne & Osso. PostHog’s privacy policy describes its handling of service data. Earlier version 1.0.0 does not make these feature-setting requests.

Offline use

Playing and processing sound happen on your device. Feature settings are cached locally; if the network is unavailable, the app uses cached settings or built-in defaults. No account is required, and the app contains no advertising.

When you share a file

Exporting audio opens the iOS share sheet or Android file-save picker. If you choose another app, storage provider or service, that destination handles the file under its own privacy terms. MIDI notes are sent only to the destination you select.

Storage and removal

Removing Chord Machine removes its app storage from the device. Copies you exported are separate and must be removed from the destination you chose. Any iOS device backups managed by Apple are controlled through your device and Apple account settings. The Android app disables cloud backup and device-transfer backup for its private app data.
